Types of Strokes | Statement of Concern | Physicians Types of Strokes VISUAL STROKES:
A person has a neck manipulation done. They have some mild visual
changes. One could be that they see double images, like a Picasso
drawing. Another may be that a week or two later they notice they
cannot see off to the side as they could before. In both these cases,
they could have a stroke due to damage that was done to the artery in
their neck. That damage, in the vertebral artery caused a small clot or
thrombus to form which was then cast off and lodged itself in the area
of the brain responsible for vision.
BRAIN STEM STROKES: The vertebral artery in the back of your
neck plays an essential role in the blood supply to the brain stem, the
area of the brain that contains the most vital centres. There are a
myriad of types of symptoms that can result from damage in the brain
stem and immediately adjacent areas. One can have facial weakness,
dizzy spells, loss of balance, decreased gag reflex, hoarseness of the
voice, changes in temperature sensation, etc. etc. Almost complete body
paralysis can result.
CEREBULLUM STROKES: Blood clots can travel from an injured
artery in the neck up to the back of the brain called the cerebullum.
This can cause a wide variety of strokes that affect balance and
co-ordination.
CAROTID ARTERY STROKES: The carotid artery comes up the front of
the neck. It do can be damaged by sudden neck rotation. Many types of
strokes can result from paralysis, mental changes, visual defects, etc.
etc.
